Impress submits recommendations to the UK Government's Draft Media Bill
As you may be aware, the UK government have announced a raft of policy changes in their draft Media Bill. Among these, is the full repeal of Section 40, which was introduced following the Leveson Inquiry.
While it was enacted as law with support across the house, the Government have never chosen to commence Section 40. It now appears set to be fully repealed.
Last week, Impress submitted a response to the changes and we want to share that with you as well.
Moving forward, we are working on a number of alternative proposals that will encourage publishers to voluntarily adopt independent press regulation and continue to safeguard those who have already done so.
You can read our submission in full below but we would like to hear from you too. Let us know your thoughts by contacting hamish@impressreg.org.uk.
