Impress launches new Regulatory Scheme consultation

Whether you are an Impress member, publisher, stakeholder or member of the public, we want to hear from you.

Our regulatory scheme was originally drafted in 2016 and sets out how we function and the powers we have as an independent press regulator operating under the Royal Charter.

In the seven years since, Impress has regularly and efficiently handled applications for membership as well as handling complaints, arbitration and advisory notice requests.

But the media landscape is constantly changing so it only makes sense that the way we operate remains flexible in every respect. That is why we are opening this consultation.

After a lengthy review process, we have put forward a number of proposed changes, including to our membership eligibility criteria, transparency agreements and initiated investigations process.

If you wish to respond to our consultation, please submit your comments by completing the online form by 9th May 2023, which can be found below.
