Impress has launched a 3-week consultation on changes to the Impress CIArb Arbitration Scheme and welcomes you to share your thoughts on the proposed changes.

Whether you are a participating publisher, a member of the public, or part of the wider news publishing industry, we want to hear from you.
The Impress CIArb Arbitration Scheme is a service for individuals or organisations to bring legal claims against Impress-regulated publishers, as an alternative to going to court. Arbitration involves appointing an independent third-party arbitrator to consider all the facts of the case and the relevant law before reaching a decision.
The current Arbitration Scheme was launched and adopted by participating publishers in 2016. It was the first of its kind to be recognised in the UK, and through the scheme the UK’s first media arbitration awards have been publicised.
Impress has now undertaken its first review of the scheme. The changes proposed reflect the latest legal and technology developments in arbitration, as well as feedback on the scheme in action from various stakeholders including the independent panel of arbitrators and users of the Scheme.
If you wish to respond to our consultation, please submit your comments by completing the online form by 7h July 2023, which can be found below.
